Auto-Incorrect extravaganza
Hello, everyone! Im Molly Wood and welcome to the CNET Mailbag, the show where
we tell you about the new things were doing, take your complaints about the old things,
and get crazy snail mail as a bonus.
Lets start with your snail mail. I got this one from Malta and when I shake it a little,
glitter comes out. So, I didnt open it in my office. But lets open it here in the studio!
Charlie wont mind. Right, Charlie? Ok, maybe in the kitchen. Ill let you know what it
says.
In other snail mail, this one? Just terrified me.
It turned out to be a really confusing tech support request. I dont really do that. But
thank you for writing!
Nolan sent this in, saying:
It had occurred to me that you never answer my emails that I sent you, so I have decided
to send my questions via snail mail. Heres a summary of his questions:
Is Tom Merritt a Doug Adams fan? Why is Brian Cooley on screen on top of a gas pump
at my local Holliday? And can you do a how-to on Adblock Plus.
Plus, he sent this as a possible lame prize for Top 5: a wiring diagram for a USB cable
written on a broken half of a floppy disk with silver sharpie.
Nolan: Yes, I dont know, and well look into it. And that prize might be too lame even
for Tom, but Ill pass it on.
Ok, CNET TV updates! TB says:
Just noticed you guys now do a Car Tech Live podcast. Love it! Keep up the good work.
Yes, we do! Its on Fridays at 2:30 Pacific, 5:30 Eastern, and you can watch it and all our
other CNET live streams at cnet.com/live.
We also launched a new series called CNET Conversations, hosted by me and rotating
News or Reviews or other CNET colleagues. The first one posted last week, it was an
interview with U.S. CTO Aneesh Chopra. Matthew writes to say:
CNET Conversations was a great show, but I the studio that it is in is very bland, and
boring.
Also, please add it to the CNET TV menu and onto iTunes/Podcast.cnet.com.
Thanks, Molly!
Anything to make you happy, Matthew. Did you like the interview at all?
Speaking of things you dont like, obraekow says:
Over the last days the only ads in between the Videaos are for Symantec
Norton. (Dokken, Kimbal Slice) The ads are really stupido, highly annoying
and just make want to do 2 things: 1.) get to another website
2.) NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER buy anything from Symantec again.
What DORK creates such annoying ads for online ? they might be OK when
viewed once, but after that they're just annoying. GET RID OF THESE !!!!
Ok, maybe the repetition is the problem noted. But dude? I think that one with the
chicken and Dokken is like the funniest thing ever.
Ok, we havent done an Auto Incorrect segment in a while, so lets do a
slew of them, shall we?
J.P. says:
I was sending a text message to my friend who was sick in bed with the flu. He was really
sick. My iPhone kindly corrected my advice to: "make sure you get plenty of liquor." I
now have a drunk, sick friend in bed with the flu. Thanks Apple!
Bruce G writes:
I was chatting with a friend via text (IM) messaging and I meant to type " Awe. How
come?" but came out as "See. Hoe come"
And ok, this is kind of racy. But hilarious. Jay says:
So recently I got into Sodoku... Got pretty darn good at it too, and quite proud of myself.
The other day I texted my girlfriend to proclaim myself the Sodoku king, except my iPod
Touch decided the
proper word I was looking for would be "Sodomy". I am the "Sodomy" king. Great work,
Apple. Now my girl's got unrealistic expectations.
Sent from my iPod
Im sorry, everyone. But it had to be done.
And thats it for this week, everyone! Keep the feedback and questions coming! Email
me at Mailbag@cnet.com, or send your snail mail to 235 2nd St., San Francisco, CA,
94105. Thanks for watching, everyone.
