Anime fans can now access Crunchyroll through their Prime Video accounts as an add-on channel. The two companies announced a new partnership on Tuesday that brings the anime giant's massive library to Amazon's streaming platform. The Crunchyroll Prime Video channel is now available in the US, Canada, Sweden and the UK, with additional regions to follow in 2024.

Though the standalone Crunchyroll app offers three plan options, Prime members can choose from only two subscriptions: Fan ($8 per month) and Mega Fan ($10 a month). Both plans are ad-free and include new simulcasts from Japan. At launch, Mega Fan subscribers will be able to download titles to watch offline, with other membership perks rolling out later. Note that Crunchyroll's free and Ultimate plan offerings are excluded from the Prime Video channel offering.

Prime Video is known for its lineup of TV shows, Amazon originals, Freevee ad-supported TV and movie rentals. But the streaming service also has a large selection of add-on channels for platforms, including Starz, Max, AMC Plus, Shudder and HiDive, another anime streamer. Subscribing to add-on channels via Prime means you access and pay for them through Amazon. It saves you a step if you would rather not download or sign into multiple streaming apps separately.

Since launching in 2006, Crunchyroll has become a force in the world of anime. It's a Sony-owned brand encompassing anime streaming, gaming, merchandise and digital manga. It also hosts its own events like the annual Crunchyroll Anime Awards. After officially merging with fellow industry giant Funimation in 2022, the platform is home to more than 40,000 episodes of content in multiple languages. Favorites include Demon Slayer, Attack on Titan, Jujutsu Kaisen and Spy x Family.
