2020 McLaren 600LT Spider: Hardcore track capabilities with a view

The 2020 McLaren 600LT Spider is essentially an open-top version of the 600LT Spider Coupe. 

In place of the fixed roof is a three-piece, power retractable hardtop that can go down in just 15 seconds.

The top can be operated at speeds of up to 25 mph. With the top up, the 600LT Spider has a top speed of 201 mph. When it's down, max velocity drops to 196 mph.

The 600LT's transformation from coupe to convertible adds approximately 110 pounds of weight. 

The 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 is unchanged, with 592 horsepower and 477 pound-feet of torque. 

Working with the engine is a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox that routes power to the Spider's rear wheels.

McLaren says the 600LT Spider hits 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds, just like the coupe. 

The Spider can cover the quarter-mile in just 10.5 seconds.

Inside, the 600LT Spider makes heavy use of Alcantara for the dash, steering wheel and carbon-fiber seats. 

The 2020 McLaren 600LT Spider starts at $256,500, exclude $2,500 for destination. It's available for order now, with deliveries expected to begin in April.
