Three Sony Bravia 40-inch TV models could explode, melt

Sony has issued a consumer alert for three of its 40-inch Bravia LCD TVs, as a component inside the televisions can potentially overheat, ignite and melt the upper rear portion of the TV case.

Sony has issued a consumer alert for three of its 40-inch Bravia LCD TVs, as a component inside the televisions can potentially overheat, ignite and melt the upper rear portion of the TV case.

If you own either a KDL-40X3100, KDL-40XBR or KDL-40W3100 contact Sony's customer care line on 1300 137 669 to arrange for a free inspection, and possible repair, of your TV.

The affected TVs were sold in Australia between the middle of 2007 and late 2008.

According to Sony, there have been no reported incidents of damage or injuries.
