The vRS sub brand turned 10 in 2011.
Rather than celebrate with a special edition, Skoda decided to get ambitious.
It decided to take on the fearsome Bonneville Speed Week...
...and set a world record for a 2.0-litre forced induction car.
This very Octavia can, they reckon, manage over 250 mph.
However, at the event it managed a world record 227.080 mph.
Its driver, Richard Meaden, is an experienced driver.
XCAR's Alex, is not.
That aside, he hit 151 mph down Bruntingthrope Proving Ground's 2-mile runway.
The car is completely stripped out to make it as light, therefore as fast, as possible.
