Italian stallion
The Ferrari 458 Italia is, according to Ferrari's big cheese, Italy's car.
It's a stunner
Ferrari's clever use of function and form mean that its stunning body hides many useful features.
Warm it up
For example, the vents at the rear expel hot air from the dual-clutch gearbox.
A relief
The vents above the front wheels help relieve air pressure created by the wheels.
Powerful engine
It's powered by a 4.5-litre V8.
All the horses
Said V8 is naturally aspirated and pushes out 562 bhp and 398 lb. ft.
Faster than fast
0-62 mph happens in just 3.4 seconds.
Burning rubber
Its top speed is 202 mph.
What's in a name
The 458 in the name refers to the car's 4.5-litre V8 engine.
No manual
The 458 is the first mainstream Ferrari not to be offered with a manual gearbox.
The tech inside
Ferrari used plenty of F1 tech in the 458.
Traction
Its traction control system, for example, is derived from tech developed in F1.
Miles per gallon
Ferrari claims the 458 Italia can manage over 20 mpg. We did not achieve this.
Sensitivity
Ferrari's Manetino switch selects how sensitive the traction control is. "Race" is quite enough, thanks.
Specs
Carbon fibre can be specced all over the car.
Vroom!
The V8 revs hard and fast. It's quite a thing.
Not too shabby
The turn of pace this thing has is enough to surprise you. And, of course, delight as well.
Whoa there
Three exhausts?! Yup, just like the legendary F40.
Nice ride
Trust us, it's everything you'd expect it to be.
