The 2012 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe heads to Geneva (photos)

Mercedes-Benz today unveiled shots of the 2012 C-Class Coupe, which will debut at the 2011 Geneva auto show. The new C-Class Coupe comes with two direct-injection engines to choose from--the 302-hp C350 and and 201-hp C250.

The C-Class Coupe offers two engine options. The C250 comes with a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine, offering 201 hp and 229 pound-feet of torque. It boasts 0 to 60 in 7.1 seconds. The C350 offers a 3.5-liter V6 with 305 hp and 273 pound-feet of torque. It can go from 0 to 60 mph in 5.8 seconds.

Although the C250 and the C350 promise powerful and responsive handling, they also offer a fuel-efficient seven-speed automatic transmission. The C250 offers a combined 24 mpg (estimated). The C350 offers a combined 22 mpg (estimated).

The new three-spoke steering wheel features features a flat bottom and comes standard with shift paddles. The dashboard features a standard 5.8-inch central display. The instrument panel of the C250 Coupe offers aluminum trim, while the C350 Coupe features rich burl walnut. Unique ash olive matte wood trim is available as an option.

While the driver and front passenger ride in comfort, they are also protected by nine airbags, including front, side, and pelvic airbags for the driver and front passenger, a kneebag on the driver's side, and headbags.

The C-Class Coupe is a roomy four-seater with sporty seats and integrated headrests. The backrests in the rear can be folded to extend the storage area.

The C-Class Coupe's assistance systems, such as the standard attention assist or the optional lane-keeping assist, are based on the latest radar, camera, and sensor technology, and cover frequent accident causes such as distraction, fatigue, and darkness.

The two-door coupe is both youthful and sporty, but still represents the classic Mercedes-Benz design. The main competition for the C-Class Coupe will be the Audi A5 and the BMW 3-series coupe.
