Photos: 2007 Nissan Sentra
You may not feel compelled to live in it for a week as seen on TV, but the 2007 Sentra 2.0 SL is a solid value and makes good use of technology for efficiency, utility and entertainment.
Nissan's Sentra is all-new for the 2007 model year. Our review car has the SL trim level, with a base price of $19,015.
Although not particularly powerful, the Sentra has a good set of interior electronics. Combined with good fuel economy, the Sentra is a good car for practical, everyday use.
The Sentra has a roomy interior for an under-$20,000 car. We didn't think the 16-inch alloy wheels--part of the SL trim level--adequately filled the wheel wells.
In the SL trim, perforated leather covers the seats, adding a touch of luxury to an inexpensive car.
An array of buttons covers the center stack and steering wheel, denoting the good collection of tech in this car. Unfortunately, navigation isn't available.
Bluetooth phone integration is standard on the Sentra. The system is controlled through voice commands.
An audio auxiliary input sits front-and-center on the stack, making it easy to connect an MP3 player.
The stereo displays Iterative Dichotomiser 3 (ID3) information from burned MP3 CDs. We weren't particularly impressed with the audio quality of the premium sound system.
A smart key is standard on the Sentra. To start the car, turn the plastic knob that takes the place of the ignition lock.
The steering wheel is thick, offering a good grip, although the Sentra doesn't have very sporty handling.
The instrument cluster uses an innovative little gauge for gas and temperature on the same dial.
The Sentra's engine uses variable valve timing and a continuously variable transmission to get decent fuel economy, but it feels a little underpowered.
