On the wing of love with the Porsche 911 GT3 RS
It's wider, it's ventier and it's got a giant wing. Welcome to the GT3 RS.
The Porsche GT3 RS is one of the last naturally aspirated 911 models you can buy.
The four-liter, flat-six-cylinder engine puts out 500 horsepower and 339 pound-feet of torque.
It's got all kinds of track day goodies to keep it from killing you, like an adjustable suspension, rear steering and an electronically controlled limited-slip differential.
243 pounds of downforce is delivered by the front splitter and vented front fenders.
The wing generates 485 pounds of downforce at 186 miles per hour, so no worries about getting airborne.
Staggered Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires are stuffed into the wheel wells. The GT3 RS is rolling on size 265/35-20 tires in the front and a whopping 325/30-21 in the rear.
The GT3 RS weighs 22 pounds less than the standard GT3, thanks to a carbon-fiber trunk lid, hood, wing and spoiler, as well as an ultrathin magnesium roof. A backseat delete and fabric door pulls also help trim weight.
A seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) is the only transmission available. Do we want a manual? Sure, but the PDK is amazingly quick and screams up to 8,250 rpm before shifting.
However, if you're looking for cabin tech, you won't find it here. The basic Porsche Communication Management is the best you can get. None of that Apple CarPlay frivolity.
The 2016 GT3 RS starts at $175,900, but with all our extras, including the Lava Orange paint job, ceramic brakes and other assorted luxuries, the grand total comes to well over $204,000. Click through for more photos of this German scream machine.
