New Jeep Compass looks magnetically good
With styling akin to the Grand Cherokee, the new Compass finds its way in a sea of bland crossovers.
Welcome to the 2017 Jeep Compass. It looks a lot like a baby Grand Cherokee, and that's not a bad thing.
This is the Trailhawk model, so it comes with a revised front end for a better approach angle.
The Compass is available in two or four-wheel drive and with the option of a nine-speed or six-speed automatic or a six-speed manual.
Regardless of drivetrain, there is no choice of engine, just the 2.4-liter four cylinder, good for 180 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque.
The suspension in the Trailhawk is tuned for off-road, so it's a bit bouncier than normal.
The Compass can feel ponderous around sharper turns, but that's nothing new for Jeep.
Bet you didn't think Jeeps could do wheelies!
The robust 4x4 system includes Auto, Snow, Sand and Mud plus the Trailhawk-exclusive Rock.
I love it when GPS systems get the architectural details of Giant's AT&T Park correct.
