Performance goes topless with Mini John Cooper Works Convertible (pictures)

Big engine, little car -- that's the idea behind the John Cooper Works Convertible.

The car comes packing Mini's most powerful four-pot -- a 228-horsepower, 2.0-liter, turbocharged BMW engine.

In fact, it's the first Mini convertible powered by a BMW engine.

Despite being called Mini, there's room for four adults in here.

There's even room for stuff in the trunk!

As with every other Mini, the customization options are endless.

You can even order your drop-top with the Union Jack on it.

The suspension has also been tweaked for better feel during spirited driving.

Not that Mini condones spirited driving anywhere but the track, of course.

The interior is equally sporty.

Mini did not mention pricing or availability.
