Mini Coupe concept revealed

The Mini Coupe concept (not to be confused with the Mini Cooper) features a sloping rear roofline that leaves no space for backseats.

The resulting profile is decidedly more sporty, although the aero kit and forward canted stance probably also have a bit to do with that.

From the rear, it looks like the Mini Coupe looks like a mash-up of the Cooper and the Cabriolet. For example, the trunklid design looks similar to that of the convertible, even though it appears to be a hatchback, like the Cooper.

Viewed from the front, you'd be hard pressed to spot the differences between the Coupe and the Cooper S.

Out back, the Coupe receives a more aggressive rear bumper to match the front air dam.

The Coupe's roof features an integrated spoiler that blends with the traditional Mini white roof.

Viewed from above, the integrated spoiler becomes more obvious.

Of course, the Coupe will maintain an interior that is very similar to that of current Mini models.

Under the hood, the Mini Coupe will feature the same 1.6-liter turbocharged engine that powers the John Cooper Works Mini.

We're looking forward to seeing the Mini Coupe in the sheetmetal at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, but it also seems that Mini may have another surprise up its sleeve...
