Mercedes will tear up the track with IMSA in 2017
Fielding several cars across both works and customer teams, the Mercedes-AMG GT3 is heading to the races. Let's check it out in all its liveried glory.

Racecars are a great distraction from things. Let's look at some race cars -- specifically, the Mercedes-AMG GT3.
Several GT3s will run in the 2017 season of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
Mercedes will field a works effort with Riley Motorsports.
Multiple customer teams are expected to unveil their GT3s in the coming weeks, as well.
The AMG GT3 race car is approximately 4.4 inches wider than the street car.
The car rocks some lightweight carbon fiber body panels.
While the AMG GT road car uses a 4.0-liter V8, the GT3 relies on the tried and true 6.2-liter V8.
The 6.2-liter V8 used to appear in every AMG 63 model, but it was phased out in favor of a smaller, turbocharged, 5.5-liter V8.
The 5.5-liter is now disappearing, and the 4.0-liter is its replacement.
