Lucid Motors shows off Air, an electric luxury sedan
At a media event in Fremont, California, electric vehicle startup Lucid Motors showed off its first production-intent car, the Air.
Lucid Motors showed off its first, production-intent car, called the Air.
The Air fits into the luxury sedan segment, but uses a fully electric drivetrain.
Along with the electric drivetrain, Lucid attempts to future-proof the Air with self-driving capability, a data connection and even features to enable ride-sharing.
One value of the electric drivetrain cited by Lucid comes in at about the size of a midsize sedan, but its cabin is equivalent to that of a much larger car.
Electric motors at the front and rear wheels give the Air 1,000 horsepower.
A 100-kilowatt-hour battery pack gives it over 300 miles of range.
Embedded sensors, including camera, radar and Lidar, enable its self-driving.
Lucid designed unique headlights for the Air that can turn to illuminate curves in the road.
