Ahead of its debut at the 2015 Geneva Auto show, the Kia Sportspace concept makes an appearance. The vehicle appears to preview the design language that we should expect from the next generation of Kia's Optima sedan.
The Sportspace is, surprisingly, presented in a wagon configuration. While the rest of the world may appreciate a bit of extra trunk, American buyers tend to shy away from wagon models.
Kia's photos show the sport wagon in an icy environment. This could be our first hint that the concept will feature an all-wheel drive system.
Inside, the would-be Optima features tech like we've seen on no previous Kia. For example, an LCD instrument cluster looks like the virtual cockpit that debuted in the newest Audi TT.
Being a concept car, Kia can experiment with design cues and bold elements that wouldn't make sense in a production car. The tall center console that divides the cabin is an example of that.
We expect to learn more about the Kia Sportspace concept when it makes its in-the-flesh debut at the 2015 International Motor Show in Geneva in early March.
