Infiniti's VC-Turbo engine puts out V6 power with a diesel's efficiency
By creating a trick system of links within the engine block, Infiniti's able to give drivers the best of both worlds.

For the longest time, an engine's compression ratio has been a fixed value.
That changes with the introduction of Infiniti's VC-Turbo engine.
It uses a system of links within the engine block to change the engine's compression ratio on the fly.
It's able to switch ratios between 8.0:1 and 14.0:1.
Infiniti believes it can produce 27 percent better fuel efficiency than a similarly capable V6 engine.
That's impressive, considering it's a four-cylinder engine.
Infiniti is targeting a power output of 268 horsepower and 288 pound-feet of torque.
The engine should reach production in 2018.
Right now, the automaker won't say what vehicle the VC-Turbo will end up in.
It might seem like witchcraft, but it's just science.
