The hybrid supercar hasn't changed much since it debuted in 2013, and that's a-ok with us.
Say hello to the 2017 BMW i8, a plug-in hybrid with the looks of a supercar.
The i8 still looks much the same as when it debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2013, which is a very, very good thing.
That negative space...it slays.
A 1.5-liter three cylinder turbocharged engine puts 228 horsepower to the rear wheels, while two electric motors, one mounted near the engine, one living up front, throws power to the front.
Total power output is 357 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque going to all four wheels.
A 7.1-kWh battery stores enough juice for 15 miles of all-electric range.
The futuristic interior is comfortable for front seat passengers, but the rear seats are only for storage, small children or your worst enemies.
While the i8 can be plugged in, the gas engine can function as an on-board generator.
When plugged in, the i8 recharges in two and a half hours from a level 2 charging station or four and a half hours from a standard 110-volt outlet.
