2023 Bentley Bentayga S and Azure Get PHEV Power
With the arrival of the Bentayga S Hybrid and Azure Hybrid, Bentley moves closer towards its goal of offering hybrid powertrains for every model in its lineup by 2025.
The sporty Bentley Bentayga S and the new comfort-focused Bentayga Azure are both getting the plug-in hybrid treatment.
The Bentayga S Hybrid features the same turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 as the standard Hybrid, but upgrades to a more powerful electric motor and a slightly larger battery pack.
Total output is now stated at 456 horsepower. That's 13 ponies more than before.
Inside, the S Hybrid features sporty upholstery and dashboard materials.
The SUV's dampers are also now 15% firmer than the standard model when in their Sport setting.
The S Hybrid isn't much quicker in a straight line, but the bigger 18-kWh battery should boost EV range from 16 miles to an estimated 27 miles before the hybrid motor kicks in.
At the opposite end of the spectrum is the comfort-focused Bentayga Azure Hybrid.
This model focuses on passenger wellness, improving on the Hybrid's already quiet cabin with enhanced active and passive noise cancellation.
The Azure Hybrid's suspension is more supple than the standard model and is tuned to reduce low frequency road noise and, as a result, passenger stress levels.
