2022 BMW M340i xDrive looks passionate in purple

The M340i xDrive doesn't suffer from huge-grille-itis like other BMWs... not yet, at least.

This high-performance sedan's interior is well built and solid, but some of the materials are merely OK.

The backseat is a bit tight and those narrow door openings make it a challenge to get into and out of. 

This color is called Daytona Violet Metallic and it's lovely. 

Unfortunately, this special paint job costs a whopping $4,500.

M340i models offer more performance than lesser versions of the 3 Series without being as over-caffeinated as the M3 family.

A 3.0-liter turbocharged I6 delivers 382 horsepower, 0 to 60 in 4.1 seconds and plenty of smiles. 

This engine is super smooth and very responsive.

Yep, these are pretty standard BMW climate controls.
