2021 Mazda CX-9: A sharp three-row hauler

For 2021, Mazda has lightly updated the CX-9's styling and technology features. 

On the outside, the range-topping Signature model gets a new gray grille, 20-inch wheels and larger exhaust tips.

Inside, the CX-9 Signature Nappa leather seats get diamond quilting on the side bolsters with contrasting piping and patterned aluminum trim.

All 2021 CX-9s also get a bigger 10.25-inch center display for the Mazda Connect infotainment system. 

On Signature models, the Mazda Connect system features onboard navigation, a 12-speaker Bose audio setup, satellite radio and Bluetooth. 

Mazda Connect is also capable or running both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The CX-9's powertrain is unchanged with a 2.5-liter turbocharged I4 providing 250 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque when running premium 93 octane fuel. 

The engine is capable of running regular 87 octane fuel, but output drops 227 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. 

A six-speed automatic bolts to the engine and helps return an EPA-estimated 20 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway.

The 2021 Mazda CX-9 Signature begins at $47,980, including $1,175 for destination.
