2021 Lexus LX 570: Big, bold and bygone
This could be a gallery from 2020 or 2016. Nothing has really changed with Lexus' full-size LX.
The Lexus LX 570 is 12 years into its production cycle. That makes it positively ancient in the car world.
The LX 570 is a full-size SUV with full-time all-wheel drive. There are no trims to speak of, but buyers can opt for two or three rows of seating.
Under the hood is a 5.7-liter V8 engine with 383 horsepower and 403 pound-feet of torque on tap.
The EPA gives the 2021 Lexus LX an efficiency rating of 12 miles per gallon in the city, 16 miles per gallon highway and 14 miles per gallon combined. During my week with it I averaged 13.6 mpg.
This massive SUV has a curb weight of 6,100 pounds.
The LX 570 is essentially a gussied up Toyota Land Cruiser, so it has some great off-road chops.
A lockable center differential is standard as is a two-speed transfer case and five different terrain modes.
While the cabin is full of luxurious style and it's pretty well-insulated from road and engine noise, Lexus needs a full-blown overhaul of its infotainment system.
Controlled by a joystick that is difficult and distracting to use, the Enform infotainment system does not feature Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
The Lexus LX 570 starts close to $90,000, but this fully loaded tester crests $100,000.
