2019 Kia Sorento makes modest updates at LA Auto Show

Kia's Sorento gets an update for the 2019 model year. The mid-cycle refresh is mostly a visual upgrade, but there are a few new details to discover.

The new model drops the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine from the lineup, keeping the 2.4-liter naturally aspirated and the 3.3-liter V6.

The V6 is now mated with the 8-speed automatic transmission from the Cadenza sedan, while the four-banger's six-speed auto has been revised for efficiency.

The new model makes the third-row seating option a standard feature across all trim levels.

Kia's Advanced Driver Aid suite of technologies is also now standard on all models trimmed EX or higher.

Inside, the SUV gets upgraded materials as well as a new steering wheel and shift lever.

UVO dashboard tech features Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.

The Harman Kardon-branded audio system has been enhanced with new surround sound processing software. 

The 2019 model rounds out its technology upgrades with a new wireless charging system for smartphones.
