2019 Honda HR-V adds tech, loses manual transmission

The Honda HR-V got a redesign for the 2019 model year.

Subtle styling tweaks include an optional set of LED headlights.

All HR-Vs use a 1.8-liter I4 engine with 141 horsepower.

While the HR-V used to be available with a six-speed manual, the 2019 model is offered exclusively with a continuously variable transmission.

In its most efficient spec, the HR-V is estimated to return 28 miles per gallon city and 34 mpg highway.

Front-wheel drive comes standard, but all-wheel drive is optional.

The Honda HR-V's main competitors are the Nissan Kicks, Jeep Renegade, Kia Soul, Ford EcoSport and Mazda CX-3.

The HR-V is priced from $20,520, not including $995 for destination.

Fully loaded, the HR-V tops out under $30,000.
