2018 Volkswagen Passat GT: Sharper handling and looks

The new Volkswagen Passat GT features slightly more menacing looks with a handful of exclusive exterior styling touches. 

GT-specific 19-inch wheels wrapped with Continental all-season tires do good job of filling up the Passat's wheel wells. 

Like the GTI hatchback, the Passat GT receives red grille accents.

A tasteful slathering of black trim provide a slightly more aggressive appearance.

Red-painted brake calipers also set the Passat GT apart from regular models. 

In addition to the larger wheel and tire package, the Passat get stiffer dampers and springs that lower ride height by 0.6-inch.

A contrasting black roof panel also visually sets the Passat GT apart from other models.

Volkswagen's 3.6-liter V6 with 280 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque comes standard on the Passat GT.

A six-speed dual-clutch transmission works with the V6 to return 19 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway.

The 2018 Volkswagen Passat GT will begin at $29,995, which includes $850 for destination. The GT hits dealers in April.
