2018 Land Rover Range Rover Velar stuns in Scandinavia
Impressive new infotainment and tech augments an already formidable SUV.
The Land Rover Velar is named for the company's original 1969 Range Rover prototypes, which were given a code name, "Velar," from the Latin word that means "to hide."
Velar slots in between the Evoque and Range Rover Sport in the Range Rover family.
The Velar's cabin is a study in sleek lines and good-quality materials.
Note how close to the ground the Velar can sit with its optional air suspension at its lowest setting.
The Velar's tail is probably its busiest view, but it still looks good.
The Velar's profile is remarkably clean and unadorned, particularly since the light fixtures and fender vents are so narrow, and the door handles are power retractable units.
Control Touch Duo's two 10-inch touchscreens are the heart of the Velar's capabilities.
If anything, the Velar's cabin is actually nicer than its pricier Land Rover siblings.
LED headlamps are standard, but we won't get the same trick active units as in other parts of the world. Blame Washington, not Land Rover.
That little badge below "Velar"? It's how you can tell what engine is inside.
Check out the subtle surfacing and detailing in the grille.
This fully loaded First Edition tester features massive 22-inch wheels. They're great for aesthetics, but probably would be less ideal for people who live in states with poor road conditions.
Copper trim is optional, and surprisingly tasteful.
Here, too.
