2018 Fiat 500L facelift proves some ugly ducklings become ugly swans

Fiat claims that about 40 percent of the parts in the 2018 500L are new, even if you can't see most of them.

All 500L variants receive new front bumpers, none of which make the car any prettier than before.

It bears mentioning that Fiat has only announced the 2018 500L in Europe so far -- it's unclear what the plan is for the US.

In Europe, the Fiat 500L is available in three different variants -- Urban, Cross and Wagon.

The Fiat 500L Cross attempts to add some crossover-ish credentials with a 1.0-inch lift kit and a mode switch.

It also picks up the ugliest front bumper of the group, with a bunch of weird holes all over the front.

The interior features some new bits as well, including a new steering wheel and a revised instrument cluster.

The 500L's 7.0-inch Uconnect infotainment system comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

2014 was the best year for the 500L in the US, with Fiat selling 12,413 units.
