2018 BMW M4: More capable in competition package form

The optional Competition Package adds a little more power, sharper suspension tuning and light styling touches to the BMW M4.

The base M4's 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline six-cylinder engine produces 425 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque.

When equipped with the optional Competition Package, output jumps to 444 horsepower, but torque remains unchanged.

The M4 Competition Package with the available dual-clutch transmission can reach 60 miles per hour in just 3.8 seconds.

Top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph.

The Competition Package also adds specific tuning for the steering, adaptive dampers, torque vectoring rear differential and stability controls.

Visually, the Competition Package sets itself apart from regular M4s with gloss black exterior trim and darker exhaust tips.

The interior features M Sport seats and M stripes on the front seat belts.

A six-speed manual transmission comes standard on the M4, but a seven-speed dual-clutch is available for an additional $2,900.

Carbon ceramic brakes are also available for an additional $8,150.

I Got an Early Look at Intel's Glass Packaging Tech for Faster Chips
Rahul Manepalli, right, Intel's module engineering leader, shows a glass substrate panel before it's sliced into the small rectangles that will be bonded to the undersides of hundreds of test processors. The technology, shown here at Intel's CH8 facility in Chandler, Arizona, stands to improve performance and power consumption of advanced processors arriving later this decade. Glass substrates should permit physically larger processors comprised of several small "chiplets" for AI and data center work, but Intel expects they'll trickle down to PCs, too.
