2017 Honda Civic Type R takes aggressive looks to new heights

Welcome to the 2017 Honda Civic Type R!

This is the first Civic Type R ever available in North America, despite Honda selling them in Japan for 20 years.

With 306 horsepower, it's also the most powerful Honda ever sold in the US.

All that power is ducted through the front wheels, which sounds like a problem, but...

...a trick front differential and some other smarts mean it's actually quite nice to drive. 

Those giant, low-profile tires help a bunch, too. 

You almost start to feel bad for the manufacturers. There's hardly any sidewall left for logos!

The front splitter has vents to help cool the brakes. 

The front-mount intercooler takes cool air through the nose. 

And of course there's that massive wing out back to provide downforce. 

It's one hell of a package, and at $33,900, a pretty good deal, too.
