We held the Super NES Classic in our hands

The Super NES Classic is Nintendo's newest childhood-in-a-box retro game console package. And we got to hold it.

The 16-bit collection comes with two completely spot-on SNES controllers. The buttons feel just like they used to.

If you're curious, as a size comparison, here's an SNES Classic with a bagel.

The SNES Classic doesn't use cartridges: 21 games come baked in, similar to the NES Classic and its 30 games.

The controllers are both wired, with more reach than the NES Classic's way-too-short controller.

Both controllers together are about as large as the whole system. The SNES Classic connects to your TV with HDMI, and uses Micro-USB to power it.

The controllers use the same port as the NES Classic controllers, which means third-party wireless options might be cross-compatible.

The SNES Classic may only be sold through the end of 2017, according to Nintendo. 

Does that mean they'll be ridiculously hard to find? Probably. I mean, I'm not exactly helping.

We didn't get to play one. Or even see the games demoed. All we did was look at the plastic hardware.

Still, it's nice-looking plastic. This is the US model by the way -- Europe and Japan (including the UK and Australia) get a curvier model with colored buttons that matches the old PAL SNES.

Here's hoping they'll be easy to find in stores (not likely).
