With modular in-door shelves, this refrigerator puts the focus on flexible food storage.
BERLIN -- This year has seen Electrolux expand its Custom-Flex refrigerator feature, including adding it into a new series of fridges in Europe.
Just what, exactly, does Custom-Flex do? I'm ever so glad you asked.
On the outside: a simple, stainless steel fridge.
On the inside, you'll find the Custom-Flex shelves in the door. Each bin hangs in place on a grooved rail -- you can pop them in and out, slide them from side to side, and re-order them however you please.
Custom-Flex comes in handy when you're trying to make room for tall items like wine bottles.
Bins come in a variety of sizes -- if you want more of a particular size, you can purchase them separately.
These Electrolux models are branded as AEG fridges -- that's a German manufacturer acquired by Electrolux some years ago. That also means that they aren't available outside Europe.
But fear not -- Electrolux owns a lot of brand names in a lot of markets. That includes Frigidaire, and sure enough, you'll find Frigidaire Custom-Flex fridges on sale in the US.
