Jeep Wagoneer Roadtrip is old-school cool with new-school parts
Jeep takes an original Wagoneer and slaps in updated running gear.
Likely the coolest vehicle that Jeep rolled out for the 52nd Annual Moab Easter Jeep Safari is the Wagoneer Roadtrip.
The concept isn't based off a current Jeep vehicle, but instead an original old-school Wagoneer.
Jeep found the donor car on Craiglist and poached the original steel body to piece together the Wagoneer Roadtrip.
The chassis was reinforced to improve the Wagoneer's off-road prowess.
The wheelbase was stretched by 5 inches, while the body was altered slightly to fit on the new frame.
Small exterior changes include fender flares, reshaped wheel wells, bumpers and integrated rock rails.
Dana axles with lockers and a four-link suspension with coilover springs also increase the Wagoneer's off-road chops.
The package rides on 17-inch steel wheels wrapped with 33-inch BF Goodrich Mud-Terrain tires.
For power, the Wagoneer Roadtrip uses a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 engine mated to a four-speed automatic transmission.
The Roadtrip's interior still uses the original bench seats and door panels that have been rewrapped with fresh leather.
