Head to school with these phones
Summer is already over and school is back in session. Though the prospect of studying up in a classroom may not sound great, getting a phone may help relieve the back-to-school blues. Here are our top choices.
Apple iPhone 7
User-friendly and equipped with a great camera, the iPhone 7 is a guaranteed win if you're already in the Apple iOS ecosystem.
Samsung Galaxy S8
The Galaxy S8 is one of the most high-end phones around. Packing a crystal-clear 5.8-inch display, a 12-megapixel camera and Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 835 chipset, the S8 is sure to be a winner.
OnePlus 5
The OnePlus 5 is affordable and superfast, with an 18-hour battery. Its camera takes great portraits and low-light shots and includes a 20-megapixel telephoto lens.
HTC U11
The U11 is a performance monster. It's gorgeous front and back, it's water-resistant and it packs a big screen. In short, the phone ticks the boxes that matter.
Google Pixel
With its fantastic camera and useful Assistant software, the Pixel is one of the best Androids around and stands out from the crowd. While we like the 5-inch pocket-friendly original, there's a 5.5-inch XL version too.
Motorola Moto G5 Plus
The splash-resistant Moto G5 Plus has a near-stock version of Android Nougat, a metal build, and a camera that's good for photos and video -- and it's extremely kind to your wallet.
Sony Xperia XA1 and XA1 Ultra
The 5.2-inch XA1 and 6-inch XA1 Ultra are Sony's latest midrange offerings. Aside from their barely-there bezels, they have 23-megapixel cameras, 32GB of storage and MediaTek processors.
LG G6
Aside from its waterproof design, the G6 has two cameras on the back, which includes a wide-angle lens. That means less straining for everybody with those group selfies. And if you're active on Instagram, the phone's Square Camera app will give tons of new photo tricks.
Motorola Moto Z2 Play
With a strong battery life, clever software and magnetic Mod add-ons, the Motorola Z2 Play is a compelling midrange choice.
Nokia 3310
While the rebooted 3310 isn't a good choice for your modern phone needs, nostalgia for old tech is real. It only has a 2-megapixel camera and 2-inch screen, but it'd make a cool secondary phone with its throwback design.
