2020 Land Rover Discovery: Good looks for the adventurous family

We recently got our mitts on the 2020 Land Rover Discovery, a family-mobile for off-road fans.

The Land Rover Discovery slots in between the Discovery Sport and the larger Range Rover. A third row is available, but it functions just fine as a five-seater.

The Discovery can be had with a supercharged 3.0-liter gasoline engine, but this car has the turbocharged 3.0-liter diesel engine, pushing out 254 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque.

An eight-speed automatic transmission gets the power down to all four wheels.

An air suspension can lift the Discovery and provide 29 degrees of approach angle, 27.5 degrees of breakover angle and 28 degrees of departure angle.

Terrain Response 2 has options for grass/gravel/snow, mud and ruts, sand and rocks.

A water-fording system knows how close you are to the max 35.4-inch wading depth, since nobody wants to float away in their Disco.

The older Discovery had an off-set spare tire carrier. That design language still carries through to the latest generation, even though the tire carrier is no longer featured. 

Although the InControl Touch Pro infotainment system has made some advancements in reliability and usability recently, it can be pretty persnickety and difficult to figure out.

The 2020 Land Rover Discovery in HSE trim featured here comes out to $75,835 including $1,025 for destination.
