Comcast and T-Mobile USA kicked off a marketing alliance Monday with a promotion offering hot-spot access to Internet customers. Comcast subscribers who purchase a one-day pass to T-Mobile's hot-spot service get an additional day pass each month until the end of the year. A hot spot is a public area where individuals have access to a wireless network that enables them to use resources connected to the network, such as broadband Internet service. T-Mobile has recently become more aggressive in looking for partners to promote and increase the number of subscribers to its hot-spot service.

T-Mobile operates more than 4,000 hot spots in the United States, and its network includes Starbucks, Borders, Kinko's and airport locations. Comcast has nearly 5 million high-speed Internet subscribers.
