WD today announced the availability of its 802.11ac Wi-Fi products, including a new router and a media bridge.
WD, one of the largest hard-drive makers in the world,jumped into home networking just recently with the My Net router family, which includes the already reviewed
The two new products include a 802.11ac router, the My Net AC1300 HD Dual-Band router, and a 802.1ac-compatible media bridge, the My Net AC Bridge. The media bridge helps users to experience the new 802.11ac since there are currently no hardware clients that support this new Wi-Fi standard. It can add up to four Ethernet-ready devices, such as game consoles, computers, printers, and so on, to the Wi-Fi network created by the My Net AC1300 router, or any other compatible routers.
Similar to other 802.11ac routers on the market, such as the
WD says the new router also supports a customized QoS feature called FastTrack, available in previous select My Net routers, which automatically prioritizes traffic for entertainment services, such as Netflix, YouTube, or online gaming. It's also a Gigabit router, providing fast networking for wired clients, and offers many features for home users.
The My Net AC1300 Router and My Net AC Bridge are available now and are slated to cost $190 and $150, respectively. Check back soon for their reviews.
