Wayport delivers USA Today via hot spots

Hot-spot network operator Wayport is offering its subscribers free electronic versions of USA Today for three consecutive days when they connect to Wayport's wireless network. In addition, people who subscribe to the publication will receive a free $25 prepaid connection card for the Wayport service.

The Austin, Texas-based company is teaming up again with NewsStand, which distributes digital versions of print media. The partners have already made a similar deal for electronic downloads of The New York Times. Wayport's efforts are part of a larger strategy of adding services other than broadband access to its network, which should help differentiate it from competitors.
