Want to know how to make a spaceship? Have a contest
My name is Peter Diamandis.
I'm the founder executive chairman of the XPrise Foundation and the founder and executive chairman of Singularity University.
I got excited about Opening up space since my childhood [INAUDIBLE] program and I read this book called the Spirit of St.
Louis that chronicles Lindberg's journey from New York to Paris and I said a prize can open up aviation.
Maybe a price could open up space and so I came up with this $10 million prize and Just recently, an amazing author has chronicled the whole XPrize story in this book How to Make a Spaceship.
And it tells my journey and I'm hoping that this book can inspire the next generation to moon shots the way Lindberg's book inspired me.
In this book, you'll meet Jeff Bezos, you'll meet Paul Allen, you'll meet Richard Branson, you'll meet the teams competing for this $10 million prize.
And you'll see me announcing a $10 million prize without having the 10 million and then going making 150 pitches to every CEO out there and being told no over, and over, and over again until I finally meet the Ansari family Long story, but one of technology and regulatory hurdles, and financing hurdles really making this dream of space flight possible.
On heels of the X Prize being won, we built on extraordinary board from Larry Page to James Cameron.
Elon Musk has funded a $15 million global learning X Prize.
We have a $10 million dollar Qualcomm, tricorder XPRIZE for reinventing health care, and we're really focussed on launching XPRIZES that will take on the world's biggest problems.
We want $120 million dollars worth of prizes, another 100 million are in developement.
It's really about changing the world with entrepreneurs setting big goals.
