YI 4K+ Action Camera is not good news for GoPro Hero5 Black owners

The $299 YI 4K+ ups the resolution and feature capabilities of its predecessor, the 4K Action Camera. 4K+ Action Camera, capable of capturing 4K video at 60 frames per second, which is double that of GoPro's Hero5 Black. It's not only a first for YI, it's a first for the category. It's also the also the first camera to use an Ambarella H2 SoC processor, offering a maximum bit rate of 120Mbps, which does make for some sharp, detailed video (and huge file sizes).

The touchscreen gives you access to all settings and a view of the action while you're recording.

While you can buy a waterproof housing and other mounts for YI's cameras, the 4K+ has a tripod mount. Also, YI says the new camera will work in the 4K Action Camera's housing, so there's no need to get a new one.

There's just one port on the camera and it's a USB 3.0 Type-C that will handle charging and computer transfers as well as video output (with an optional cable) and an external mic.

The camera has stereo mics that are important for more than capturing audio: You can use voice commands to control the camera hands-free.

Due in part to the Ambarella H2 SoC processor YI used, the camera is full of shooting capabilities. For me, the most important is electronic image stabilization at a resolution of 4K at 30fps -- something no other camera in the category can claim.

YI's Erida tricopter can reach speeds of up to 75 mph (120 kph) and stay in the air for up to 40 minutes and works with either the 4K or 4K+ cameras.
