Up close with Google's power-packed Pixel XL

Say hello to Google's new superphone.

It's called the Pixel XL and it's the bigger brother of the standard Pixel. This phone comes with a 5.5-inch display (the smaller Pixel has a 5-inch screen), a 12-megapixel camera and either 32GB or 128GB of storage.

It's also the first phone to feature Google Assistant -- Google's own rival to Apple's Siri or Amazon's Alexa, which lets you simply talk to your phone to get it to do things.

The 32GB Pixel XL will be on sale in October and will set you back $769 in the US, £719 in the UK or AU$1,269 in Australia, while the 128GB model costs $869, £819 or AU$1,419.

Google says the rear 12-megapixel camera is "The best smartphone camera. Ever," which is quite a bold claim. We'll be putting that to the test in our reviews.

There's an 8-megapixel camera on the front for you selfie lovers.

It's slim enough to slide into your jeans, and there's a USB Type-C port on the bottom.

This bright blue colour is accurately called "Really Blue."

There's a black version as well, named "Quite Black."

You'll find a fingerprint sensor on the back, just like on Google's previous Nexus 5X and 6P.
