Track your flights and more with Flight+ for iOS (pictures)

More than just a simple flight tracker, Flight+ is a comprehensive air travel tool. CNET takes you on a guided tour.

Track your flight

Available on the iTunes App Store Flight+ is an attractive and full-featured flight tracking app from International Airport Flight Track Technologies. There's a lot under the hood, but its primary feature is global tracking for commercial flights. You'll see all vital information, and the app will notify you in case of delays.

See it on a map

For flights that are en route you can go to a map view. The app won't show the flight's actual position, but it will show its approximate position on a projected "great circle" route.

Know your aircraft

A very cool feature (well, at least for an aviation geek like me) is the ability to read about your aircraft. The photo won't represent your actual plane and it may not even be your airline, but you'll get an idea of how the plane will appear at the gate.

More aircraft facts

A second page shows top facts about your airplane.

Know your airport

In the Airports tab you can read a brief description for hundreds of airports worldwide. Not every airport will have a photo, but larger ones like San Francisco will.

Delayed much?

A second screen shows a few more facts and the average delay currently at the airport. As you can see, San Francisco's usual summer fog was plaguing schedules at SFO on June 9.

Find your gate

The terminal maps show the top-level services and gate locations, but they won't reveal the names of individual shops or restaurants. You can click on each terminal map for a closer look.

See all departures

I really liked the feature that displays all upcoming departures at the airport.

Where can you go from SFO?

Even better is a global map that shows all the nonstop flights from an airport.

Know your airline

The Airline tab has similar features starting with a brief description of your chosen airline.

More airline facts

You also can see more facts about the airline.

All airline departures

Supergeeks will love the list of all impending departures for an airline. I've never seen this before in an app and I quickly became a fan.

And where does the airline go?

There's also a map for showing an airline's global network.
