Top 10 Dreamcast games we'd love to see on the PlayStation Network--photos
With the latest PlayStation 3 rumors suggesting downloadable original Dreamcast games, here are the first 10 games we'd love to see available.
Shenmue
Shenmue was an epic adventure title that introduced elements of real life into gameplay as well as some of the first real-time weather effects. The three-disc open-world game also had a sequel on the Dreamcast, Shenmue II.
Jet Grind Radio
Perhaps the game responsible for accelerating cel-shaded graphics in video games, Jet Grind Radio had you rollerblading around fictional cities spraying graffiti and outrunning authorities.
Ready 2 Rumble
This over-the-top comic boxing game launched with the Dreamcast and served to be a winning one-two combination paired up with Sonic Adventure. Players filled up the RUMBLE meter in order to perform character-specific finishing moves.
Skies of Arcadia
Skies of Arcadia was a role-playing game that had you battling across the open skies. Elaborate airships carried you across the world from adventure to adventure.
Crazy Taxi
Perhaps a precursor to 3D open-world games like Grand Theft Auto and Saints Row, Crazy Taxi had you driving customers to their destinations without regard for public safety and property.
Ecco the Dolphin: Defender of the Future
While not necessarily a mainstream hit, Ecco the Dolphin's fourth adventure was a critically acclaimed title for the Dreamcast. Quite possibly too ahead of its time, the Ecco series would probably be more successful now as the gaming audience has exploded.
Chu Chu Rocket
From the Sonic Team developer came the puzzle game Chu Chu Rocket. The game was simple enough: guide the cute ChuChus characters to the goal while avoiding the KapuKapus. Chu Chu Rocket is also considered one of the first successful online console games to date.
Power Stone
Power Stone was a 3D fighting game that allowed players to use their environments in battles. Power stones could be collected mid-fight, unlocking a much stronger version of the character.
Sonic Adventure
The best-selling Dreamcast game to date, Sonic Adventure helped launch the console back in September 1999. It was the first title to give us a true open-world 3D Sonic game, offering worlds to explore and loads of mini games.
Soulcalibur
Arguably the best fighting game ever made, Soulcalibur debuted on the Dreamcast as a launch title as well. The arcade port featured improved graphics and special features.
