These are the coolest games we saw at E3

The world got a sneak peek at the biggest and best upcoming video games in Los Angeles last week. Here are the ones that looked most promising.

Battlefield 1

The Battlefield series is heading to World War I in Battlefield 1, in sharp contrast to that other big military shooter game on the market. Battlefield 1 is promising some of the largest online battles in the game's history and the option to control massive warships being dubbed "behemoths." The next edition of the shooter franchise is set for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare

It seems that Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare had quite the positive showing at E3 this year, creating a surprising buzz at the show. The next Call of Duty game takes the fight to space, a first for the series, on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

Days Gone

The jury still seems to be out on Days Gone, but we can't deny the intrigue of playing a biker gang member in a post-apocalyptic setting in this PlayStation 4 exclusive. This one is still a ways out so we're remaining cautiously optimistic.

Dead Rising 4

This one seems like a no-brainer for Capcom and we're definitely excited to embrace the Christmas themed zombie fest of Dead Rising 4 when it hits later this year on Xbox One and PC.

Death Stranding

We are delighted to see Hideo Kojima reunite with actor Norman Reedus for a new PlayStation 4 game following their brief collaboration on P.T. The bizarre trailer for Death Stranding still has us guessing about what the game will focus on, and we can't wait to find out more details.

Detroit: Become Human

David Cage's latest foray into in-depth interactive storytelling is Detroit: Become Human, the story of a world where android robots have become a normal part of every day life. Detroit will focus on things from the android's point of view when it is released for PS4.

Dishonored 2

Dishonored 2 took the stage at Bethesda's E3 showcase and received a very warm reception now that we're starting to see extended gameplay and new ideas enter the game. We won't have to wait long either, Dishonored 2 will be out in time for the holiday season on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Final Fantasy XV

Despite not being floored by the gameplay we've seen, we can't deny we're extremely curious about Final Fantasy XV. After a decade of development (including its initial life as Final Fantasy Versus XIII), but it will finally hit on September 30.

For Honor

Ubisoft may have a new hit on its hands with For Honor, with its satisfying swordplay and set of multiplayer modes. We're looking forward to joining the battle early next year on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Gears of War 4

Gears of War 4 feels like the Xbox One's most significant console-exclusive this season and we're ready to join the alien fight once again this October when it hits the system and PC.

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands

The Ghost Recon series is taking a bit of departure from previous titles, pivoting into an open-world co-op game where a group of elite soldiers have been called in to overthrow a drug state. Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands is coming next year to Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

God of War

Arguably one of the biggest surprises of the show, Kratos returns in God of War on PlayStation 4 -- a reimagining of the franchise. God of War will play as a third-person action game where Kratos and his son make their way through a new setting for the series.

Horizon: Zero Dawn

Horizon: Zero Dawn made a huge splash at last year's show and now we're learning a lot more about the open-world action RPG. We are looking forward to unraveling the mysteries of the machine animals that have inhabited the planet 1,000 years into the future when the game releases next year on PlayStation 4.

The Last Guardian has had a long road to its PlayStation 4 release scheduled for this year, and we're finally looking forward to playing the story of a boy and his gigantic beast of a friend this October.

The Mafia series is back with a gritty tale of revenge against the backdrop of a New Orleans-influenced city in 1968. Mafia III is coming in October to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

Resident Evil 7: biohazard moves the series into a first-person survival horror game. We're excited to check out the PlayStation VR version of the game even though it made some people sick on the E3 show floor.

Scalebound comes to the Xbox One and PC from developer PlatinumGames, the makers of the over-the-top Bayonetta series. In the game, the player must interact with dragons to fight larger-than-life enemies.

Trey Parker and Matt Stone are letting players back into their cartoon world with South Park: The Fractured But Whole. Where the last game poked fun at the world of fantasy role-playing, this new entry will tackle superheroes.

Insomniac Games, the makers of the Ratchet and Clank series, is making a Spider-Man game exclsuively for the PS4.

Steep lets players jump into a variety of winter mountain sports and capture the footage to make shareable highlight reels. Appropriately enough, Steep is set to drop in December on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild takes the series to an open-world action-adventure style where players can choose their objectives and explore anything they wish. It will hit Nintendo's Wii U and NX consoles in 2017.

We loved the original Titanfall's online multiplayer that put robotic players against huge mechs in epic battles across various maps. Titanfall 2 adds new mechs a single-player story to the package. And it will now be on PS4, in addition to returning on Xbox One and PC.

We're hoping Watch Dogs 2 corrects some of the shortcomings of the original when it releases later this year on PS4, Xbox One and PC. The sequel takes place in San Fransisco as a hacker group once again attempts to defend the masses from an evil overseer.

We Happy Few

We Happy Few made quite the impression at Microsoft's press conference, introducing us to a strange world where a heavily medicated society blissfully carries on. We'll see what happens when your character stops taking the pills in July on Xbox One and PC.
