The lovely Samsung Galaxy S III (photos)

Boasting a huge 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED and ultrathin chassis, the Samsung Galaxy S III has plenty of design wow to go around.

Samsung's latest Galaxy-class phone first hits you over the head with its vibrant 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED display. With smoothy rounded edges, however, its good looks extend beyond the screen. The phone also boasts a 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera.

Flipping the Samsung Galaxy S III over to its back reveals its glossy plastic battery cover, 8-megapixel camera, and LED flash.

Despite its tall and wide chassis, the Samsung Galaxy S III is very slim.

Running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, the Samsung Galaxy S III comes with plenty of apps preinstalled.

Samsung pares down the number of capacitive buttons on the Galaxy S III. There are just two, for Menu and Back, at the bottom edge of the handset. There's no telling exactly if Samsung will retain the physical button for the U.S. model, but we could see it happen.

Samsung will also sell the Galaxy S III in dark blue, a shade the company calls Pebble Blue.

While the Pebble Blue version of the Galaxy S III is crafted from plastic, Samsung gives its back a faux brushed-metal treatment.
