The Cinder Sensing Cooker shoots for precision (pictures)
This $499 sous vide competitor looks a lot like an electric grill.
The Cinder Sensing Cooker is available in the US only and costs $499.
It is an electric appliance with 1,800W.
It comes with a related iOS app (an Android app is in development).
Use the app to check the status of your food.
Watch the temperature update as the Cinder cooks.
You can also hold the temperature once it's reached its target.
This cooker is supposed to stay within 0.25 degree Fahrenheit of the target.
It's geared toward meat, but it can also cook vegetables and more.
Select the type of meat you want to cook.
Then select the desired level of doneness.
After it's done, you can use the searing feature to finish it for serving.
The Cinder Sensing Cooker claims to be a replacement to sous vide machines.
It has built-in sensors that are supposed to measure the ambient temperature and the thickness of your food.
From there, it's supposed to judge the internal temperature of your food and decide when it's done.
The Cinder Sensing Cooker is available for preorder now and is expected to ship in early 2016.
