Wesley Crusher's suave sweater

Auction house Propworx is offering up an extensive collection of rare and unusual "Star Trek" memorabilia that includes a phaser from the '60s and a uniform top worn by Worf on "Star Trek: The Next Generation."

Wil Wheaton, the actor who played space-teen Wesley Crusher on TNG, has become a modern geek icon. The odd sweater he wore during his "Trek" days has become famous in its own right. This particular sweater was worn during filming by Wheaton's stunt double. It is expected to sell for several thousand dollars at auction.

Tribbles cause troubles

A "Star Trek" prop auction from PropWorx features these furry tribbles. This set of three was used in the background of the "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" episode "Trials and Tribble-ations." The cuddly, hungry critters are a famous alien creation from the original series. These tribbles are made from cotton dyed in different colors.

Latinum and gold bars

A Propworx "Star Trek" auction features quite a few items from "Deep Space Nine," including this selection of Latinum, a type of currency used by the Ferengi. These small pieces represent what the liquid Latinum would look like suspended in gold. You could try to buy a glass of Aldebaran whiskey with these at Quark's bar.

Klingon knife and sheath

Klingons always seem to get the coolest-looking bladed weapons in the "Star Trek" universe. This D'Ktang knife and sheath from Propworx's auction was used for "Deep Space Nine." The knife was designed for fictional hand-to-hand combat and is made from resin with an aluminum blade. The sheath is made from plastic.

Cobrahead phaser from "Next Generation"

The look of the phaser changed considerably between the original "Star Trek" series and when "The Next Generation" launched. This particular version from Propworx's auction is known as a cobrahead phaser, thanks to the large head. The 8-inch-long phaser comes with a black felt holster with Velcro backing.

Worf's Starfleet uniform

Worf, a Klingon working in Starfleet, made quite an impression when "Star Trek: The Generation" first aired. Klingons were traditionally the bad guys, so having one on the bridge of the Enterprise was big step forward. This uniform top was worn by actor Michael Dorn and shows an area on the chest where his character was injured. A set of should pads worn with the jacket is included. The top is part of a large "Star Trek" auction by Propworx.

Unpainted communicator badge

You may notice this Starfleet communicator badge from "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" doesn't look quite right. It's an unpainted mold master used to create a new mold for badges used in the series. The small resin badge, also up for auction by Propworx, is a fascinating piece of "Trek" history.

Rare original phaser prop

Auction company Propworx says this screen-used fiberglass phaser from the original "Star Trek" is one of only two known to have survived since the show aired in the 1960s. The phaser was used in an episode that aired in 1968 and was the subject of a close-up while it was being held by a security officer, one of the famous "Red Shirts."

Captain Picard's dinner jacket

At first glance, this white formal jacket, shirt and bow tie do not look like they should come from a sci-fi show. The outfit was worn by Captain Picard while in the holodeck in the 1996 feature film "Star Trek: First Contact." The holodeck program was simulating a party in the 1940s. The jacket set is part of a prop and costume auction.
