Star Trek: Bridge Crew, coming this fall, is a VR game from Ubisoft that lets you captain a starship.
You pick one of four roles: captain, helm, tactical officer or engineering chief. Each has multiple responsibilities to juggle at their touchscreen control stations.
You can all see, speak and interact with one another in virtual reality, using the headset's built-in microphone and touch controllers. Communication is key.
One sample mission has our brave crew flying into near catastrophe, to rescue escape pods from a destroyed space station before the sun goes supernova and cooks everyone.
The captain controls the central viewing window and receives instructions from Starfleet from his or her chair. Each role can be male or female.
Bridge Crew takes place in J.J. Abrams' rebooted Star Trek universe, on board a special new ship that resembles the Enterprise, but with quite a few differences. No regular Star Trek actors appear in Bridge Crew -- it's all about you.
LeVar Burton (Geordi La Forge), Jeri Ryan (Seven of Nine) and Karl Urban (the new Dr. McCoy) all reportedly got a big kick out of playing Bridge Crew.
