Sony PlayStation 4 now a pair
Sony has officially taken the wraps off its latest console, dubbed the PlayStation 4 Pro. It's coming November 10 for $399, and is the chunkier of the two pictured here.
Sony PlayStation 4 times two
Sony also unveiled the updated base-model PS4 ($299), seen here on the left next to the Pro. For obvious reasons, it's nicknamed "Slim."
Ziggurat of gaming power
The Pro is packed with double the graphics power, a faster processor and twice the hard-drive space. Hence the extra layer.
Sweeter graphics inside
Sony says that extra power equates to better gaming graphics performance, whether you're connected to a 4K TV or a good ol' high-def one.
For best results, pair with a 4K HDR TV
Another Pro improvement is support for 4K resolution complete with high dynamic range for both gaming and video. To take advantage, you'll need a new 4K/HDR television, which Sony will be happy to sell you.
Insert (non-4K Blu-ray) discs here
Surprisingly, given its high price and 4K support, not to mention a cheaper little competitor called the Xbox One S, the Pro won't play 4K Blu-ray discs. Even those made by Sony Pictures.
4K streaming from Netflix and YouTube
At launch Sony says the Pro will have a Netflix app with HDR and 4K capability, as well as a 4K YouTube app. No mention was made of support for Sony's Ultra 4K streaming app, however.
Here come HDR games
Sony did mention, and copiously demonstrate, a slate of games enhanced by the Pro's superior graphics, including a few titles like Days Gone and InFamous: First Light that were enhanced by HDR.
Full-on vert
Like previous PlayStations, the Pro can stand on its end to preserve space.

What follows are a bunch of images of official PlayStation renders and our photos of the accessories, starting with the controller.

One shot we couldn't get in person: the ports around the back of the system.

Here's a closer look at which ports are included. Note the larger PC-style power connector instead of the traditional figure-8 plug.

PlayStation VR
Sony's virtual-reality headset will ship in October, and the company says the Pro will improve its graphics too.
Only a controller required
Sony says all PlayStation VR games can be played using the standard controller, but...
Move controllers
PlayStation VR will work also with Sony's Move motion-tracking controllers for a more immersive experience.
VR Aim
The PlayStation VR Aim is a new accessory that sets its sights on making VR baddies easier to fill with lead.
PS4 camera
Sony's camera, also sold separately, will track PlayStation VR users as they move around the room.
Sony headphones
Here's a pair of headphones. Sorry, I don't have any more details than that. I'm guessing Sony makes them, however.
