Sense's Mother hub knows all (pictures)
Mother by Sense may have a creepy name, but it's also a pretty handy way to take charge of your daily routine.
Sense's Mother costs $300 and is available on the Sense site as well as on Amazon.com; units can be shipped worldwide for roughly £180 in the UK and AU$340 in Australia.
The kit includes four colorful sensor-packed activity and environmental trackers called Cookies, a power adapter, an Ethernet cable and the Mother hub.
To get started, connect the power cord and Ethernet cable to the hub.
The hub needs to be connected directly to your router.
That makes for a pretty limited setup range.
As Mother powers on, two glowing "eyes" appear.
You'll know it's fully connected when a full face illuminates.
Now you can start customizing your Mother unit.
The four Cookies act as extensions of the hub.
Each one is equipped with a three-axis accelerometer and a thermometer.
Those built-in sensors let you track things like movement, proximity and temperature.
Take one with you to track your steps and calories burned or to act as a proximity sensor.
Stick one to a door or window to get movement alerts, place one on your bed to track your sleep or attach one to your water bottle to guilt yourself into getting more H2O.
You can pair up to 24 Cookies to one Mother unit.
The Mother Web and mobile apps let you receive alerts and access the data gathered by the Cookies.
