Scanning with the ScanSnap Evernote Edition (pictures)

This $500, 600x600dpi color scanner is designed to scan documents, photos, receipts, and business cards, and instantly turn them into searchable files stored in Evernote. It has a soft-touch gray exterior with the Evernote logo on the front and it's about the size of a toaster.

You can scan and send documents to your computer over Wi-Fi. Just flip the switch on the back of the machine to "on" and follow the setup process with the ScanSnap Manager application, which you download when you set up the scanner.

To scan a document or photo, lift the upper and lower trays away from the body of the scanner to turn it on. Then just tap the big green button and you're done.

The ScanSnap can automatically detect what kind of document you're feeding into it and adjust the settings to produce the best finished image. You can also choose which type of document you're scanning in the ScanSnap Manager, which changes the settings manually.

Evernote automatically files finished scans in the notebook you choose. Here, that's Scanned Photos.

Documents are saved as searchable PDFs. If you want to edit the file, you'll need to open it in another program.
