Samsung SyncMaster S23A350H (photos)

I expected the Samsung SyncMaster S23A550H to be a worthy successor to the Samsung PX2370. I was wrong, and while the S23A550H wasn't a bad monitor, it failed to live up to the performance and smart design of the best TN monitor to date.

I guess it stands to reason that I went into the SyncMaster S23A350H's review with low expectations. Having just been disappointed by the S23A550H, I wasn't willing to put my heart back out on the chopping block just yet.

Sometimes, however, lowering your expectations can yield some surprising results.

The S23A350H looks a lot like your typical Samsung monitor, but includes some idiosyncratic flare to keep things interesting.

The aforementioned unique aspects to the S23A350H's design are located on the back. We'll take a closer look in a few slides.

It's not the thinnest monitor compared with recent offerings from Dell and HP, but it's still slight compared with most monitors.

The cable hook, located on the back of the foot stand, is functional, elegant, and thoughtfully designed.

You don't see too many grooved backsides on Samsung monitors. It's almost like having a built-in washboard.

Only HDMI and VGA are included. DVI isn't dead, so it's unfortunate that Samsung seems to be turning its back on the input, at least in budget monitors.
